Alatengheili Replaces Montel Jackson for UFC Vegas 81 Bout against Chris Gutierrez

Chris Gutierrez is set to fight Alatengheili in a UFC bantamweight bout after original opponent Montel Jackson pulled out, marking Gutierrez’s opportunity to come back from a recent loss and Alatengheili’s return after a win streak.

Chris Gutierrez’s next fight has been delayed by a week and will now see him face a new opponent. Sources knowledgeable about the matter have confirmed that Gutierrez, with an impressive record of 19-5-2, is scheduled to take on Alatengheili (16-8-2) in a bantamweight clash at UFC Vegas 81 on October 14th. This comes in the wake of Montel Jackson, who was originally lined up to fight Gutierrez this Saturday, pulling out of the event.

While the exact reasons behind Jackson’s withdrawal from UFC Vegas 80 remain undisclosed, this development was first reported by Eurosport. Meanwhile, the upcoming bout offers Gutierrez an opportunity to stage a comeback following his first defeat in half a decade. His previous bout ended in a unanimous decision in favour of Pedro Munhoz, thereby ending Gutierrez’s eight-match unbeaten run. Prior to this, Gutierrez, also known as “El Guapo”, had been steadily climbing the ranks courtesy his knockout victories over Frankie Edgar and Danaa Batgerel, before he was checked by Munhoz.

On the other hand, Alatengheili will be getting back in the ring after a year, his last appearance being in September 2022. His record in the UFC is noteworthy, with just a single loss in six appearances. He rides into the fight with Gutierrez on the back of consecutive triumphs over Chad Anheliger and Kevin Croom.
