Anderson Silva expressed concerns about Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing plans, emphasizing respect for the boxing community and cautioning against attempts to dominate the industry.
Anderson Silva’s got some thoughts on his old boss’s boxing ambitions. Yep, we’re talking about Dana White.
UFC CEO Dana White is gearing up to launch Zuffa Boxing. The first event? January 23, right before UFC 324. It’s all under TKO Group Holdings, with White running the show alongside WWE’s Nick Khan.
A big buzz is White’s push to tweak the Ali Act. He claims it’ll give fighters more options. Critics? They think it might exploit fighters instead of protecting them.
Silva, fresh off a win against Tyron Woodley on the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua card, chimed in during a chat with Fight Hub TV.
“People need to respect the boxing community,” Silva said. “That’s the point. That’s my own concern.”
When asked if White could replicate his MMA success in boxing, Silva was skeptical. He warned about the risks of trying to dominate an industry.
“I don’t know,” Silva mused. “When you make something to help the sport and help the athletes, OK. But when you try to do something to control the whole thing, this is bad. This is very bad.”
