The incident took place at the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua fight in Miami. Doherty, known for his antics, bumped into Arlovski, seemingly unaware he was pranking a former UFC heavyweight champ.
Chaos ensued as Doherty’s crew swung at Arlovski, who defended himself before heading to an elevator with his family. Doherty later challenged Arlovski to a fight, but the veteran dismissed it as mere bravado.
“It was viral for only two days,” Arlovski told MMA Fighting. Doherty’s bold claims fizzled out quickly.
Interestingly, Arlovski wasn’t even aware of Doherty until after the altercation. Once videos surfaced, Arlovski was flooded with messages praising his defense.
“When this happened, I woke up confused,” Arlovski explained. Calls and texts labeled him a hero, though he barely knew who Doherty was.
In a humorous twist, kids recognized Arlovski from TikTok. “I might open a TikTok,” he joked, amused by his newfound fame.
Despite the attention, Arlovski wasn’t thrilled about the situation. With his family present during the brawl, he was frustrated by the lack of security.
“What surprised me was nobody tried to stop the fight,” Arlovski lamented. Instead, people recorded the chaos.
Proudly, Arlovski noted his wife and son stood by him, trying to help. That, he said, was the only positive takeaway.
Now, Arlovski’s focus shifts to his upcoming fight against Ben Rothwell. He’s eager to move past the Doherty drama.
“I don’t know if we’ll cross paths again,” Arlovski mused. “Hopefully not, but maybe.”
