Bellator Champ Patchy Mix Enters Free Agency as PFL Declines Contract Extension

Patchy Mix, the former Bellator bantamweight champion, has become a high-profile free agent after mutually agreeing with the Professional Fighters League (PFL) not to extend his contract, following his frustrations over inactivity and a canceled fight, potentially opening the door for a move to the UFC.

Patchy Mix is now the biggest free agent in combat sports. The former Bellator bantamweight champ is on the hunt for a new home after PFL decided not to extend his contract.

“Professional Fighters League and Patchy Mix have mutually agreed to not extend his contract,” PFL officials announced. They both felt this was the best move for everyone involved.

Patchy is a fantastic fighter, and PFL wishes him well. They’re eager to crown a new 135-pound champ in their World Tournament.

This decision ends a months-long saga. Mix had been vocal about his frustration when a fight against Leandro Higo was canceled last November, prompting him to seek a release.

Since then, Mix has aired his grievances about inactivity. His last fight was in May 2024, where he defeated Magomed Magomedov.

That victory marked his seventh consecutive win, bringing his record to an impressive 20-1. Sadly, he couldn’t extend the streak or defend his title due to the layoff.

Now, it seems both parties have agreed to part ways. The UFC might be interested in Mix, given his top bantamweight status and his training ties in Las Vegas.

Mix has always wanted to join the UFC roster. With his PFL contract behind him, that opportunity might finally be on the horizon.
