Bia Mesquita’s UFC Debut in Rio de Janeiro

Bia Mesquita, a 10-time jiu-jitsu world champion and undefeated MMA fighter, is set to make her UFC debut against Irina Alekseeva on October 11 in Rio de Janeiro.

Bia Mesquita is now part of the UFC bantamweight roster. Her debut in the octagon is set for Oct. 11 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, against Irina Alekseeva.

Sources familiar with the situation confirmed the news to MMA Fighting after a report from Leo Guimaraes. The UFC announced the Fight Night card on Wednesday night but hasn’t revealed any match-ups yet.

Mesquita is no stranger to success. She’s a 10-time jiu-jitsu world champion, an ADCC gold medalist, and boasts a 5-0 record in MMA. Her latest win was capturing the LFA bantamweight belt in June.

Training alongside UFC contender Kayla Harrison at American Top Team, Mesquita is touted as one of Brazil’s top prospects for 2025. Quite a résumé, right?

On the flip side, Alekseeva holds a 5-3 record, with a 1-2 mark since joining the UFC in April 2023. She previously fought in Bellator, missing weight before her first-round kneebar win over Stephanie Egger.

Since then, Alekseeva has faced setbacks, losing decisions to Melissa Mullins and Klaudia Syguła. It’s a mix of triumphs and challenges for both fighters.
