Brandon Mills, son of former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes, made his professional mixed martial arts debut at Caged Aggression 36 in Davenport, Iowa. Unfortunately, Mills fell short in his first outing, as he faced Jordan Clark in the co-main event. Despite displaying some skill, Mills was unable to secure a victory, with Clark emerging as the victor in a unanimous decision after three rounds.
The fight kicked off with Mills executing a takedown that echoed his family’s fighting history, engaging in playful exchanges with Clark on the mat in the opening round. While Mills put up a competitive performance, it was Clark who found himself in more dominant positions throughout the round. As the fight progressed into the second round, Clark took control, consistently staying on top of Mills. At times, Mills appeared more focused on putting on a show rather than securing a win.
Heading into the final round, Mills managed to showcase moments of defensive prowess, preventing Clark from gaining the upper hand in advantageous spots. However, these efforts proved insufficient to sway the judges’ decision. Clark secured a 30-26 scorecard on one judge’s scorecard, accompanied by a pair of 29-28 scores, improving his professional record to 3-1. On the other hand, Hughes suffered his first loss in the cage after an undefeated 4-0 run as an amateur.
