Bruno Silva suffered a first-round knockout loss to Marc-Andre Barriault at UFC 315, was taken to the hospital for a checkup, later assured fans of his well-being, and reflected on his mental health struggles and career setbacks.
Bruno Silva faced a frightening defeat Saturday night in Montreal. Marc-Andre Barriault knocked him out in the first round at UFC 315, leading Silva to exit the octagon on a stretcher. Yikes.
Later, the UFC updated viewers. Silva, nicknamed “Blindado,” was taken to a local hospital. Though he complained of neck pain, he was alert and moving all his limbs. That’s a relief.
Afterward, Silva took to Instagram. “Stopping by to inform that I’m fine,” he wrote in Portuguese. Hospital tests showed his health was okay. Phew!
Silva has been open about his mental health struggles. He shared with MMA Fighting that he sought treatment before UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard gave him another chance. A tough journey.
With five consecutive losses, Silva’s UFC future looks uncertain. This knockout was a first in his 36-fight career. He wished for a win to spread his message to a wider audience. Sometimes, life just doesn’t play fair.
“I’ve received a lot of messages from people that really like me,” Silva shared. He wanted victory to tell his comeback story. Yet, he remains resilient. “I’m a winner,” he insists. “All honor and glory to God.”
Silva departs the UFC with a 4-7 record. All his wins were knockouts, including against Brad Tavares and Jordan Wright. Quite the puncher.
Meanwhile, Barriault snapped his three-fight losing streak. His victory at home in Canada boosted his MMA record to 17-9 (1 NC). A sweet comeback for him.
