Cain Velasquez’s Unbreakable Journey: Reflecting on Serene Isolation During Jail Time for Attempted Murder Case

Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez reflects on his time in jail, describing it as an opportunity to be alone, take care of himself, and gain perspective on the things he took for granted in life.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez recently opened up about his eight-month incarceration, revealing that the experience offered him valuable perspective on his life. During an interview on the JAXXON PODCAST, Velasquez reflected on his time in jail, emphasizing that he made the most of it. He admitted that being alone for such a long period was a new experience for him, but he seized the opportunity to delve into self-reflection. Opting to go into protective custody, he aimed to understand the dynamics of the environment. He expressed gratitude for the chance to be with himself, even though it had its ups and downs. Velasquez believes that people should experience having their freedom taken away to truly appreciate the little things they often take for granted.

Velasquez’s stint in jail came after he was arrested in March 2022 for allegedly participating in a high-speed car chase and shooting at the car of a man accused of molesting his four-year-old son at a daycare owned by the man’s mother. During the chase, the man’s stepfather was wounded by gunfire. Facing charges of attempted murder and multiple gun charges, Velasquez potentially faces a lengthy prison sentence if convicted. Despite being released on $1 million bail and being ordered to undergo GPS monitoring and outpatient treatment for CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy), a degenerative brain disease common in combat sports, prosecutors voiced concern over his potential threat.

Following his release on bail, Velasquez returned to the pro-wrestling ring with permission from the judges and expressed his gratitude towards his fans for their unwavering support. Throughout his time in jail, Velasquez found solace in reading books and contemplating his surroundings’ impact on his mindset. He urged people to recognize the blessings they have each day and not to dwell on trivial matters. Appreciating the fleeting nature of moments, Velasquez used his time behind bars to find gratitude in even the smallest victories. Regardless of his circumstances, he maintained a positive outlook, recognizing the importance of how he felt internally.

In the full interview, Velasquez explored these themes in greater depth, highlighting the significance of self-reflection and the ability to find gratitude in life’s simplest moments. Through his experiences, he encourages others to appreciate what they have and make the most of every situation they find themselves in.
