The UFC’s return to Mexico City features a bantamweight fight between Marlon Vera and David Martinez on February 28, alongside a flyweight headliner with Brandon Moreno and Asu Almabayev.
The UFC is making its way back to Mexico City, and it’s bringing a thrilling bantamweight showdown along for the ride.
Sources have confirmed to MMA Fighting that Marlon Vera will square off against David Martinez at UFC Mexico. This event is set for Feb. 28 at Arena CDMX, streaming live on Paramount+.
Vera’s looking to turn things around after a rough patch. He snapped a losing streak with a win over Pedro Munhoz at UFC 292 in August 2023. However, he fell to Sean O’Malley in a title fight at UFC 299, and later dropped decisions to Deiveson Figueiredo and Aiemann Zahabi at UFC Vancouver.
On the flip side, Martinez is climbing the ranks quickly. After just two fights, he’s already made his mark. He debuted with a knockout against Saimon Oliveira and grabbed a decision win over Rob Font at Noche UFC.
And don’t forget, UFC Mexico’s main event features a flyweight clash between former champ Brandon Moreno and Asu Almabayev. Excitement’s in the air!
