Francis Ngannou‘s coach hopes for reconciliation between Ngannou and UFC CEO Dana White despite Ngannou’s departure to PFL, while Ngannou remains focused on his MMA career with potential future fights.
Francis Ngannou’s head coach is hopeful that Ngannou and UFC CEO Dana White can resolve their differences. The tension between them has only grown since Ngannou left the UFC in 2023, vacating his heavyweight title to join PFL. Dana White recently recounted a near-physical altercation from years ago, adding fuel to the fire.
Eric Nicksick, Ngannou’s coach at Xtreme Couture, shared his thoughts on the ongoing back-and-forth. “I judge people by how they treat me,” he said. Nicksick hopes Ngannou and White can mend fences, emphasizing the value of friendship over animosity.
He also expressed a desire for both parties to move on from past conflicts. “Why bring up old stuff?” he questioned. Nicksick believes Dana may secretly miss having Ngannou in the UFC, given the current state of the heavyweight division.
Despite the drama, Ngannou’s future with the UFC seems unlikely. He’s currently under contract with PFL, where they’re planning something “special” for their star free agent. Nicksick recently caught up with Ngannou via video call and was impressed by his shape and readiness.
Ngannou hinted at a return to MMA, saying, “Hey, Bubba, I want to come back.” Nicksick advised him to prepare his body before any fight is booked. “He’s in really good shape,” Nicksick noted, highlighting Ngannou’s chiseled appearance and improved knee condition.
Looking ahead, Nicksick is optimistic about Ngannou’s potential. “The sky’s the limit for him,” he said. Ngannou has only fought once in PFL, quickly defeating Renan Ferreira in 2024.
There’s talk of a future bout with PFL heavyweight champ Vadim Nemkov. However, Nicksick would love to see Ngannou back in the UFC. “He can do whatever he wants,” Nicksick stated, acknowledging the formidable competition Ngannou would face in the octagon.
