Ian Machado Garry is preparing as a backup fighter for the UFC 315 welterweight title match between Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena, following a recent victory, with only two weeks to train and the possibility that the fight may not occur.
Ian Machado Garry is diving into another whirlwind UFC scenario. This time, he’s on standby for a fight that might not even materialize.
After a swift victory over Carlos Prates with just a month to prepare, Garry is now the backup for the UFC 315 welterweight title fight. Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena are set to clash on May 10, but Garry’s readiness is key.
Only two weeks separate these events. Garry’s coach, Diego Lima, says they’re gearing up for a potential last-minute call to Canada. “We train for war,” Lima states. “As a backup, anything can happen.”
Lima recalls a similar scenario with Makhachev and Tsarukyan, where unpredictability reigned. Even when it seems unlikely, surprises occur.
Garry recently went the distance with Rakhmonov and Prates, showcasing his endurance. Despite getting hurt in the fifth round against Prates, his earlier dominance secured the win.
“You can’t escape unscathed from such battles,” Lima notes. Recovery is crucial, but so is staying prepared. Each opponent demands a unique strategy, and Garry’s team is ready for both Muhammad and Maddalena.
Lima praises Garry’s ability to execute strategies flawlessly, despite Prates’ late surge. Garry controlled the fight, aside from a few tense moments.
“Ian’s always ready,” Lima says. His consistent training keeps him poised for any opportunity. A young yet seasoned fighter, Garry dreams big and delivers.
“He’s proving himself,” Lima continues. Garry’s quick adaptability and performance in the octagon highlight his potential. Each time the UFC calls, Garry answers.
