Conor McGregor aims to make a significant impact in 2026 by proposing a rematch with Floyd Mayweather in MMA on the White House lawn, coinciding with the United States’ 250th anniversary celebration.
Conor McGregor’s got big plans for 2026. He wants to make waves—big ones.
Last year, Donald Trump and UFC CEO Dana White announced a massive event. It’s set for the White House lawn to celebrate the U.S.’s 250th anniversary. Naturally, it’s attracting the biggest names in MMA, including McGregor.
Initially, McGregor wanted to face Michael Chandler. But now? He’s eyeing a different opponent.
On Tuesday, McGregor threw out a wild idea. How about a rematch with Floyd Mayweather? But this time, in MMA.
“Fun times, Dana White, UFC,” McGregor quipped. “Floyd Mayweather Jr., when you’re ready for that promised MMA bout, I’m here. The White House is nice in the summer, I heard.”
He added with a chuckle, “Just kidding, Mike! Although… I could fight both the same night. Floyd MMA? EASY. 10 seconds.”
Back in 2017, McGregor and Mayweather clashed in “The Money Fight.” Mayweather won, stopping McGregor in the 10th round. There was buzz about a UFC rematch, but it fizzled out.
Since then, McGregor’s been on the mend. He broke his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. A planned fight with Chandler last summer? Canceled due to injury.
Mayweather, on the other hand, retired from pro boxing after beating McGregor. But he’s kept busy with exhibition bouts. His next? A rumored face-off with Mike Tyson this spring.
