Conor McGregor has stirred up excitement in the combat sports world once again. Less than 3 years after a loss to Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match, McGregor has once again flirted with a return to the boxing ring.

In an interview with ESPN leading up to his UFC 246 bout with Donald Cerrone on January 18th, McGregor explained his thoughts on boxing again.

” I would like to rematch Floyd Mayweather again. Floyd has flirted with returning to boxing in the past few months. He can go and pick another opponent but it won’t be the same. It’s not. I did phenomenal in that bout”.

McGregor took the fight 9 rounds until he was eventually TKO’d by Mayweather. Mcgregor would love a rematch with Mayweather and this time around thinks that he can defeat him.

” I know I can defeat him. I’d beat Floyd when we rematch. If he doesn’t want to come into the Octogan like was discussed I will fight him in a boxing match again.”

To the surprise of many McGregor goes on to explain that a fight with Manny Pacquiao is actually very close to being signed. “There was an offer made. Just not yet, not yet.” McGregor states.

A fight with Paulie Malignaggi seems to interest McGregor as well. Malignaggi was McGregor’s sparring partner in the leadup to his fight with Mayweather. The two have had heated confrontations over how the sparring sessions played out.

Whether the opponent is Mayweather, Pacquiao or Malignaggi there is one thing for certain if McGregor returns to the ring and that is a mega pay day.
