UFC

Conor McGregor has stated he wants to stay active in 2020 and he may soon have his next fight lined up.

ESPN’s Ariel Hewani reported that McGregor and Justin Gaethje‘s teams have both engaged in preliminary discussions for a fight possibly to take place in the summer.

Justin Gaethje (4-2 UFC) has publicly stated that he wanted Conor McGregor next. In an interview with ESPN prior to his UFC 246 fight against Donald Cerrone, McGregor admitted that he and Gaethje could cross paths at some point. Ironically Gaethje’s last stepped foot in the octagon against Cerrone defeating him via TKO in the first round.

Conor McGregor (10-2 UFC) defeated Cerrone at UFC 246 via TKO just 40 seconds into the fight. The victory ended a layoff of more than 1 year and was McGregor’s 1st victory in over 4 years. Mcgregor has said that he will be on standby for April UFC 249 main event between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson just in case one of them pulls out. The two have been scheduled to fight four times in the past.

The UFC has not made a comment regarding McGregor’s next fight but if McGregor Gaethje does get finalized for the summer we could see the 2 men face off during international fight which historically has taken place in July.
