Conor McGregor claims his UFC contract is void due to a new deal with Paramount, impacting his pay-per-view-based agreement, and he plans to enter negotiations in February while preparing for a return.
Conor McGregor claims his UFC contract is void. Just a couple of weeks ago, McGregor was streaming Roblox with his son and streamer Caylus, having a blast. This week, he dropped a bombshell during another stream.
“Notorious” revealed that the UFC’s new deal with Paramount invalidates his old contract. His previous deal was all about pay-per-view sales. Now? It’s a whole new ball game.
“I’m warming up for the White House fight,” McGregor announced on stream, hinting at something big. He’s gearing up for negotiations with the UFC in February. Exciting times ahead, right?
The new Paramount deal is worth $7.7 billion. McGregor’s contract, based on pay-per-view, seems outdated now. He’s the top PPV fighter ever, so he’s expecting a fresh contract.
Whether this contract change is real or just McGregor’s negotiation tactic? That’s still up in the air. It’ll all get sorted out soon enough.
Meanwhile, McGregor’s laser-focused on his return. “What am I doing for it?” he asks. Living in the gym, ignoring the noise, and sticking to the plan. That’s the McGregor way.
He hasn’t fought since July 2021, after a nasty leg injury against Dustin Poirier. He was set to return at UFC 303 but had to pull out.
The UFC White House event is slated for June 14. Dana White plans to start booking the card post-UFC 324. So, stay tuned!
