Costello van Steenis Defends Middleweight Title at First PFL Spain Event

PFL middleweight champion Costello van Steenis will defend his title against Fabian Edwards in a rematch on March 20 in Madrid, marking PFL’s first event in Spain in 2026.

PFL middleweight champ Costello van Steenis is gearing up for his first title defense. He’ll face Fabian Edwards in a rematch in Madrid, Spain, at the Palacio Vistalegre on March 20.

The PFL announced this exciting matchup on Friday. It’s their inaugural event in Spain, set for 2026.

Van Steenis claimed the title with a jaw-dropping upset over former Bellator champ Johnny Eblen. In a nail-biting finish, he secured a rear-naked choke with just seven seconds left.

Instead of an immediate rematch, PFL is giving Edwards a shot at the gold. Edwards had an incredible run in the 2025 middleweight tournament, finishing with a devastating head-kick KO over Dalton Rosta.

Edwards is also seeking revenge after a split-decision loss to van Steenis back in 2020. March can’t come soon enough for him.

Stay tuned—PFL plans to announce more fights for the van Steenis vs. Edwards card soon.
