Dan Hooker criticized Paddy Pimblett, referencing a rumored confrontation with Conor McGregor and Pimblett’s recent performance against Justin Gaethje, while dismissing Pimblett’s fighting abilities and character.
Dan Hooker isn’t holding back in his ongoing feud with Paddy Pimblett. This time, he’s bringing up an alleged encounter with Conor McGregor to support his claims.
Hooker is set to face Benoit Saint Denis at UFC 325. However, much of the pre-fight chatter has revolved around his verbal sparring with Pimblett. It all started when Pimblett made a crude comment involving Hooker’s mother, criticizing his grappling skills. Hooker retaliated with a harsh reminder of a tragic incident involving Pimblett’s friend.
During the UFC 325 media day, Hooker briefly touched on the feud. He mentioned a supposed incident where McGregor confronted Pimblett, painting a picture of Pimblett’s character.
“I’m a thumbs up, thumbs down guy,” Hooker remarked. “[Pimblett is] thumbs down. He talks a lot, then plays the victim when caught.”
Hooker recounted a tale where McGregor allegedly drove to Pimblett’s house after some online trash talk. According to Hooker, Pimblett didn’t dare to face McGregor, which he believes speaks volumes.
This story, which circulated back in 2022, involved McGregor supposedly causing a scene in Liverpool. Pimblett, however, denies any direct confrontation, claiming he would’ve welcomed the chance or at least used it for social media content.
Hooker also expressed his disappointment with Pimblett’s performance against Justin Gaethje at UFC 324. Gaethje won by unanimous decision, but the fight drew criticism for lacking technique.
In Hooker’s eyes, Pimblett didn’t display championship-level skills. “Dogshit,” he bluntly stated. “He talks a lot for someone who fights like that. If the only takeaway is you’ve got a good chin, you fought like shit.”
