Dana White Awaits Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes Fight This Year

Kayla Harrison’s neck surgery forced her out of the highly anticipated UFC 324 fight against Amanda Nunes, with UFC CEO Dana White confirming the matchup will be rescheduled once Harrison recovers, as the fight is considered monumental.

Kayla Harrison was scheduled to face Amanda Nunes in the UFC 324 co-main event. But, just days before the fight, she had to undergo neck surgery. Talk about bad timing!

With Harrison out, Nunes didn’t get a new opponent. UFC CEO Dana White emphasized the fight’s significance, saying it’s too monumental to miss. So, Nunes will wait for Harrison to recover, with hopes of rescheduling in 2026.

“This fight is the greatest female fight ever,” White told TMZ. You can’t just throw someone else in there. You wait, then do the fight.

Amanda’s great to work with. White praised her, mentioning their solid relationship. He added that Harrison’s surgery went well, and she should fully recover, ready for the fight this year.

Nunes’ return from retirement after over two years was eagerly awaited. Yet, with Harrison’s injury, Nunes was pulled from the card. Even with other fighters, like Norma Dumont, volunteering, the matchup’s magnitude was irreplaceable.

White acknowledged the wait might be long, but it’s worth it. Harrison hasn’t set a return date, but an initial six-month recovery was expected.

The UFC won’t rebook until Harrison’s ready. White seems confident in her recovery and a new fight date later this year.

This fight is huge. Harrison, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, against Nunes, arguably the greatest women’s fighter ever. Can’t wait!
