Dana White Awards Wang Cong $50K Bonus for UFC Vegas 96 Knockout

Wang Cong set a record with a 62-second knockout in her UFC debut, initially missing out on a $50,000 bonus but later receiving it after UFC President Dana White watched her performance.

Wang Cong shattered records in her octagon debut at UFC Vegas 96. Now, she’s getting a well-deserved bonus for her efforts.

The Road to the UFC veteran made a huge splash. She demolished Victoria Leonardo with a brutal knockout just 62 seconds into the first round.

This rapid-fire knockout earned Wang the fastest finish for any debuting flyweight in UFC women’s history. It was also the second-fastest knockout in the entire history of the UFC women’s flyweight division.

Despite this stunning achievement, Wang was a bit disappointed. Why? Her incredible finish didn’t come with a $50,000 bonus at the end of the night.

“Wake up and find out there is no [Performance of the Night],” Wang wrote on Instagram. “Next fight you will see more spectacular finish UFC. Don’t play with Joker again!”

Though he wasn’t at the event at UFC APEX on Saturday, Dana White caught up later. He watched the fights and responded to Wang.

“I was out of town and watched the fight at Mystique Boston on TV,” White said. “You looked AMAZING. I’m adding another [Performance of the Night] bonus for u. Congrats u get $50k.”

This isn’t the first time White has handed out bonuses when not physically present. Lucky for Wang, the UFC CEO saw her handiwork and decided she should definitely have that extra $50,000.

The win moved Wang to 6-0 in her MMA career. She also boasts an impressive kickboxing résumé, including a 2015 win over former UFC champion Valentina Shevchenko.
