Dana White: Conor McGregor’s Return Delayed

Dana White is uncertain about Conor McGregor‘s return to fighting due to recent injuries, legal issues, and outside pursuits, while acknowledging McGregor’s unique legacy and expressing hope for future UFC stars.

Dana White is moving on from Conor McGregor, at least for now. In a chat with Adam Glyn, White was asked about McGregor’s status. You know, the guy hasn’t fought since he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 back in July 2021.

White had been hopeful about McGregor’s return in 2025. But now? Things are murky. "He’s not fighting anytime soon," White admitted. "I haven’t talked to him in a minute, but yeah, I don’t know."

McGregor’s comeback is tangled in complications. He’s been chasing opportunities outside the octagon, like starring in the 2024 remake of Road House. Oh, and he also had a toe injury that canceled his fight with Michael Chandler last June.

The 36-year-old Irishman is also dealing with legal troubles. He was found liable for sexual assault in a civil suit from a 2018 incident in Dublin. Plus, there’s another civil suit for an alleged assault in Miami in 2023.

Though McGregor’s been sharing training clips on social media, who knows if he’s really planning to fight again? It’s all up in the air.

White, meanwhile, is always scouting for new stars. But he’s not expecting another McGregor. "There will never be another Conor McGregor," he said. "Or Ronda Rousey, or Chuck Liddell, or GSP. Someone new will pop up."

"They make themselves. A hundred percent," White added. "We find talent, and if they have the personality, that’s amazing. But I’m just looking for the best fighters in the world. The rest? That’s on them."
