Dana White Reacts to Speculations of Ronda Rousey’s Possible Return for UFC 300

UFC president Dana White has dismissed reports that former women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is planning a comeback for the promotion’s tricentennial event.

Don’t anticipate Ronda Rousey stepping back into the octagon ring for UFC 300, or even in the nearer future. UFC president Dana White clarified this in response to a recent report by British tabloid The Daily Mail. The report had suggested that the ex-women’s bantamweight champion is preparing for a comeback for UFC’s tricentennial event.

White dismissed such rumors at the Contender Series post-fight presser, held on Tuesday night. He quashed any expectations of Rousey’s UFC return, terming them as a “crock of s***.” In support of his words, he highlighted that Rousey is settling down and intending to start a family. He appreciatively recollected how she had successfully built the female side of UFC, and pursued her WWE dreams after. Her achievements in the WWE and subsequent fortune have resulted in her moving on from her UFC career.

Ronda Rousey, now 36 years old, is a widely recognized figure in UFC history. As the first-ever UFC women’s champion, Rousey, whose record stands at 12-2, delivered six successful defenses of her bantamweight title from 2013 to 2015. She experienced a startling knockout against Holly Holm at UFC 193. She only returned to the ring one more time, facing a 48-second knockout loss to Amanda Nunes in December 2016. Following this, Rousey retired from mixed martial arts and took up a contract with WWE. After on-and-off wrestling since then, she declared her WWE exit this month, following her loss to longtime friend and fellow MMA veteran Shayna Baszler at WWE’s SummerSlam event. UFC 300 is set to happen sometime in the first semester of 2024, and similar to UFC 200, it is likely to have a stacked card for its tricentennial event.
