A potential charity fight in the UFC between billionaires Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, labeled as “the biggest fight ever in the history of the world” by UFC President Dana White, fell through after talks broke down.
According to UFC President Dana White, the hypothetical battle between social media giants Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, touted as “The biggest fight ever in the history of the world,” will unfortunately remain just that – a fantasy. White had been enthusiastically advocating for an octagonal confrontation between the two billionaires in the UFC before the negotiations between Musk and Zuckerberg, affectionately referred to as Musk and Zuck, fell through. Responding to a question about whether the face-off will ever happen, White expressed his doubts saying, “I never say never, but probably not.”
White further expounded that the biggest casualty from the fight not occurring were charitable organizations, which stood to gain substantially from the proceeds. He explained that 90 percent of the profits from the match, as agreed by Musk and Zuck, would have been donated to a charitable cause. White expressed his sentiment about the potential fighters and their intentions, stating, “Listen, I like both guys…How I judge people is how they are with me, and how we interact with each other…So I like Mark a lot, and I like Elon… they would be the absolute winners, because I think that thing would do a billion dollars in revenue, and they wanted 90 percent of the money to go to charity. So it would have been the biggest charity event ever held in history, and it would have helped a lot of people.”
However, the fight between Zuckerberg and Musk, after stirring significant media excitement, seemed to fizzle. Zuckerberg, from Meta, announced he was “moving on” after claiming Musk was indecisive about the timing of the fight. Simultaneously, Musk from X, levelled a counter allegation that Zuckerberg was evading him, and unceremoniously rejected UFC’s attempts to sponsor their potential fight. Post this development, Zuckerberg has been intensifying his training regime, releasing clips of him practicing inside a cage and, interestingly, atop a floating barge.
In the wake of this squashed fight, MMA fighters picked sides in debates over which social media mogul would emerge victorious. Bellator fighter turned influencer Keith Lee even expressed his willingness to participate in an undercard match against fellow influencer Mr. Beast. While White has a history of criticizing other promoters for putting on gimmick fights, he asserts that the Musk versus Zuckerberg fight didn’t fall into that category, given it was a fight between “two of the most powerful richest guys in the world.”
