Dana White is non-committal about UFC White House fights involving Conor McGregor and Jon Jones, citing their inactivity and off-cage issues, with no announcements expected until after UFC 324 in January 2026.
Dana White’s keeping mum about UFC fights at the White House. Not a peep about Conor McGregor or Jon Jones.
Despite their star power, McGregor and Jones haven’t been busy lately. Jones fought twice since 2020; McGregor’s been out since 2021. Yet, both are keen on the historic June event.
In a chat with Complex, White was asked about McGregor possibly fighting Michael Chandler. His response? Ice-cold.
“No, that was a couple of years ago,” White said. Just a flat “No.”
Originally, McGregor and Chandler were set for UFC 303 in June 2024. McGregor had to pull out due to a toe injury. His return was eagerly awaited after a long break, a broken leg, and some off-cage drama.
McGregor claims he’s ready for the White House fight, but who knows if White and the UFC agree? It’s all up in the air.
“We’ll see if Conor’s going to come back or not,” White said. “We’ve been talking about it for a while. We’ll see how it plays out.”
Jones, meanwhile, announced retirement in June 2025. Then, he backtracked when Trump planned the White House event. White’s skeptical, given Jones’ history.
“At 205?” White pondered about Jones vs. Pereira. “Yeah, that would be a fight. But can I count on Jon Jones? Can’t have Jon Jones doing something bad or pulling out of the f*cking White House fight.”
No official announcements yet for White House fights. Don’t hold your breath until after UFC 324 in January 2026.
“Nothing yet,” White said. “We literally just got all the logistics done. It will be 5,000 seats in the South Lawn. Fighters will walk from the Oval Office. We’ve got all that shit dialed in.”
“Now, Jan. 23 is Zuffa Boxing. Jan. 24 is the first UFC and then after that card we’ll start working on the White House fights.”
