Darren Till acknowledges Ian Machado Garry’s skill as a fighter but criticizes his personality and behavior, calling him fake and unlikeable, particularly after a backstage altercation with Khamzat Chimaev and his comments about Leon Edwards.
Darren Till doesn’t hold back when discussing Ian Machado Garry. He acknowledges Garry’s skills in the octagon but isn’t a fan of his public persona.
After Garry’s impressive win over Belal Muhammad at UFC Qatar, things got heated. A backstage clash with Khamzat Chimaev, who was cornering Arman Tsarukyan, caught Till’s attention.
Till took to Twitter, expressing his frustration. “Ian Garry is such a good fighter, man, but by god, is he possibly the fakest human on Earth?” he wrote. The authenticity—or lack thereof—seems to be a sticking point.
He didn’t stop there. Till criticized Garry’s behavior during the altercation. “He’s calling Khamzat a child. He was being fake. That whole interaction was fake,” Till continued.
The drama didn’t end with Chimaev. Garry also took shots at Leon Edwards after Edwards’ loss to Carlos Prates at UFC 322. Till wasn’t impressed.
Garry, now training in Brazil with Chute Boxe, alongside Charles Oliveira, seems to have a knack for controversy. Till mentioned that Garry has been kicked out of multiple gyms.
“As much as he’s a good fighter, I’ve tried to support him,” Till lamented. “Ian Garry is just a proper, proper wnker. A fake wnker at that.”
Till’s loyalty to Chimaev is unwavering. Their friendship and training partnership remain strong, especially in light of recent events.
