Delberty Lamark Responds to Fight-Fixing Allegations

Delberty Lamark, unprepared due to short notice, cold weather, and a sinus infection, lost a six-second fight in Austria, sparking accusations of a dive, which he denies, and plans to compete once more to end his career on a high note.

Delberty Lamark left Brazil on short notice to face Burak Kizilirmak at Xtreme Combat Championship 2 in Vienna. The fight, shockingly, ended in just six seconds.

Lamark hit the ground hard after the first jab. Kizilirmak followed up with heavy shots, forcing the referee to stop the match. Social media buzzed with accusations of a dive, but Lamark denied it all.

“People only see the show, but nobody sees what happens backstage,” he told MMA Fighting after returning to Brazil.

Running a striking gym with his brother in João Pessoa, Lamark accepted the fight just eight days before the event. He flew to Vienna, arriving the night before weigh-ins.

Out of the cage since 2018 and naturally a flyweight, Lamark wasn’t ready. Advertised as a welterweight bout, he weighed in at 186 pounds.

Asked about the quick stoppage, he blamed the Austrian cold and a sinus infection. “I left Brazil at 97°F, and it’s 40°F in Vienna. It’s a whole different world,” he explained.

“If you watch my walkout, I’m blowing my hands to warm them. My head hurt from the sinus infection. When he jabbed my nose, my eyes shut,” he recalled. “I watched the video… I couldn’t do anything.”

Now at 6-5, Lamark is frustrated by online criticism. He wants to fight once more to end his career positively.

“I’m a lot better when well-trained,” he admitted. “I was affected by the cold and sinus infection.”

Despite the setback, he dreams of one final fight, where his kids can watch him. “I want it at home, with my kids in the ring. I’m back to training, 100 percent,” he vowed.
