Donn Davis Resigns as PFL Chairman

Donn Davis is stepping down as chairman of the Professional Fighters League (PFL), joining other recent executive departures, as the organization undergoes leadership changes and secures new financing to support its future growth.

Donn Davis is stepping down as chairman of the PFL. This announcement comes hot on the heels of PFL President Ray Sefo’s exit, who also recently left the company. Former PFL CEO Peter Murray has also stepped away from his role.

“From the moment I founded Professional Fighters League eight years ago, it has been my life,” Davis shared. His vision was to create a unique and premium MMA company. Despite universal skepticism, PFL emerged as a leading force, becoming the clear No. 2 worldwide.

“Today, I’m stepping down as chairman of PFL,” Davis continued. He expressed deep care for employees, investors, fighters, and fans, emphasizing his dedication. “I gave you everything I’ve got,” he added.

Davis exits at a crucial time, with PFL’s ESPN broadcast deal ending in 2026. Before his departure, PFL appointed former Time Warner executive John Martin as CEO.

The 2026 PFL calendar kicks off in February. Lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov will defend his title in Dubai, with events also planned in Spain and Pittsburgh.

“PFL changed the great sport of MMA for the better,” Davis noted. He highlighted innovations, global expansions, and fighter empowerment. “I’ve loved fighting to build PFL. What do you fight for?”

With Davis, Murray, and Sefo gone, the future of PFL’s leadership remains uncertain. However, PFL announced a new round of financing to boost the company’s growth.

Knighthead Capital Management, LLC, and 885 Capital have expanded their ownership stakes. This move supports PFL’s ambitions for 2026 and beyond.

“This capital raise marks a pivotal moment for PFL,” Martin stated. With a stronger financial foundation and engaged ownership, PFL aims to enhance its product for fighters and fans, accelerating global ambitions.
