Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson sustained a significant elbow injury while filming the biopic “The Smashing Machine,” but remains in good spirits, acknowledging it as an occupational hazard.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson just banged up “The People’s Elbow.”
Currently filming The Smashing Machine—a biopic about former UFC star Mark Kerr—Johnson showed off a nasty-looking elbow injury on Tuesday via his social media.
Take a look at the bad bump below.
The 52-year-old Hollywood star and pro wrestling legend is in good spirits in the clip as he laughs off the injury as an occupational hazard.
“I’m filming a movie called The Smashing Machine and anytime your film is called The Smashing Machine, you’re kind of going to get smashed up,” Johnson said. “Look at that sucker right there. It’s like I have a cantaloupe in the bottom of my elbow. I got banged up pretty good today in our scenes.
“There might be some soft tissue damage in there. That’s a lot of fluid, we’ll see. I’ve got to get it out of there first before I get any kind of MRI.”
Johnson did not mention how the injury occurred.
The Smashing Machine tells the story of Kerr, a collegiate wrestling champion who went on to become a star in the world of MMA. Kerr won two UFC heavyweight tournaments in the promotion’s early days and later became a standout fighter in Japan’s PRIDE organization.
A24 is producing the film, which is set for release this December.
