Alexander Volkanovski and Valentina Shevchenko have been confirmed as the official cover athletes for the forthcoming EA Sports UFC 5 video game. The announcement by EA Sports revealed the news on Tuesday. This prestigious honor puts them in the esteemed company of fellow UFC fighters like Israel Adesanya, Jorge Masvidal, Jon Jones, Alexander Gustafsson, Conor McGregor, and Ronda Rousey who have previously appeared on the box art of the popular franchise.
The gamers who purchase the game’s deluxe edition will see the familiar face of Israel Adesanya as the cover athlete, an homage to his role as EA Sports UFC 4 cover athlete in 2020. Fans of combat sports legends, Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, and Fedor Emelianenko can look forward to seeing them in the game, as they are set to be available as pre-order bonuses.
In the competitive world of UFC, Volkanovski, who is the reigning featherweight champion, was most recently seen claiming a stellar TKO win over Yair Rodriguez at UFC 290 last July. Prior to this event, his impressive 22-fight winning streak came to an end at the hands of lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. On the other hand, Shevchenko is currently on a quest to reclaim her flyweight title from Alexa Grasso who dethroned her at UFC 285. The rematch is set to occur on Sept. 16 at Noche UFC. EA Sports UFC 5 will have a full reveal on YouTube on Sept. 7.
