The Dogfight Wild Tournament 2nd Impact, organized by Spanish YouTuber Jordi Wild, took place at Tarraco Arena in Spain and featured unorthodox MMA matchups including a no-rules fight, 2-on-2 MMA, a 5-on-1 “Last Survivor” bout, and a four-man “Bloodsport Tournament” that was striking only, with the main event being a 3-on-1 matchup.
MMA, the sport of kings, right? Last Friday, it was all about the Dogfight Wild Tournament 2nd Impact. Happened in Tarragona, Spain, at the Tarraco Arena. And boy, did it deliver some wild MMA action!
This event? It’s the brainchild of Jordi Wild, a Spanish YouTuber. His second go at combat sports promotion. And it featured some pretty wacky matchups. No-rules fights, 2-on-2 MMA, a 5-on-1 “Last Survivor” bout, and a four-man “Bloodsport Tournament” that was all about striking.
The main event? A 3-on-1 matchup that was just electric. Eduardo Riego against three smaller guys (Manuel, Ivan, and Tomas). Two-minute rounds. It didn’t start well for Riego. Three is, after all, more than two. He was swarmed, barely surviving the onslaught.
Round 2, though, things got spicy. Riego managed to choke out one of the fighters. Refs had to stop the action, get the guy out of the cage. Now it was 2-on-1, odds a bit more even. But Riego still struggled. Two is still more than one, right?
But then, round three. Major turn of events. Riego chokes out another opponent with a mounted guillotine. Tide turns. Now it’s a 1-on-1, and the last guy doesn’t stand a chance. He succumbs to a rear-naked choke just moments later.
Post-bout, the three defeated men were all class. Lifted Riego on their shoulders, paraded him around the ring. Like a modern-day hero. A comeback for the ages.
The co-main event? A 5-on-1 survivor fight. Exactly what it sounds like. Cesar Alonso against five separate fighters, one after the other. Three minutes to finish each round. Alonso, a 5-5 pro MMA fighter, dispatched the opposition with ease. Mostly relying on his grappling skills.
The event had multiple fighting surfaces. Most bouts in a traditional cage. But the “Bloodsport Tournament”? On an elevated v-like structure. Two ramps forcing fighters into the center. One of the fights resulted in a brutal knockout. “The Monkey King” (Emilio Montesclaros) got demolished by a knee from “El Ninja” (Sergio Hidalgo).
And let’s not forget, Jordi Wild and his fellow commentators sat overlooking the fights from ornate thrones. A katana in front of him, a gong to the side. Wild interviewed the fighters from this position after each bout.
The no-rules bout was a bit of a letdown. Ended up being a standard-issue bare-knuckle MMA bout. But the 2-on-2 bout? It delivered. Alberto Rondán and Nicolas Martínez dominated Chiky Arroyo and Pau Peñalba. It was a chaotic display of paired fighting.
The event had other attractions too. A heavy metal band playing an interlude. A stand-up comedy act in the middle of the cage. The whole thing was outlandish. And the crowd? They loved every minute of it.
