Elizeu Zaleski aims to climb back into the UFC welterweight rankings by defeating Neil Magny, who holds the record for most fights in the division, and plans to showcase his skills with a decisive victory rather than playing it safe.
Neil Magny is about to make history with his 35th fight in UFC welterweight history this Saturday at UFC Vegas 108. Facing him is Elizeu Zaleski, eager to climb back into the 170-pound rankings.
Once on a seven-fight win streak, Zaleski has struggled recently, winning only one of his last five bouts. But playing it safe? Not his style.
“We have to brawl there,” Zaleski told MMA Fighting. Beating a top 15 fighter like Magny could be a game-changer for him. The goal? A great victory, then back into the rankings.
Zaleski has been eyeing Magny for a while, finally getting his chance on short notice. Magny, coming off two first-round losses, still shows evolution, especially in grappling.
“He’s tested against everyone,” Zaleski noted, admiring Magny’s striking and clinch game. Yet, he wonders if Magny’s chin remains as resilient after so many battles.
Despite a third of Magny’s losses being knockouts, Zaleski respects him deeply. With four knockouts in the UFC, Zaleski plans to showcase his skills once more.
“He has a beautiful legacy,” Zaleski said. While decisions are common in Magny’s wins, Zaleski aims for a knockout or submission. He’s hungry, ready to prove himself again.
