Flyweight Contenders Join UFC 324

UFC 324, airing on Paramount+, features a flyweight bout between Alex Perez and Charles Johnson, alongside headline title fights with Justin Gaethje vs. Paddy Pimblett and Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes.

UFC 324 is shaping up to be quite the spectacle as the promotion kicks off its Paramount era. Exciting times ahead!

MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz and Mike Heck have confirmed, via sources, that Alex Perez (25-10) and Charles Johnson (18-7) will clash in a flyweight bout. Mark your calendars for Jan. 24 at T-Mobile Arena in Vegas.

Interestingly, Johnson dropped hints about this matchup on his social media. Sneaky, right?

Both fighters are ranked in the top 15 of the UFC’s official flyweight rankings. Impressive!

Perez is coming off a third-round submission loss to Asu Almabayev in November. A tough break, but he’s eager to bounce back.

He’s had a rough patch with cancellations but aims to regain the form that once had him challenging for the flyweight title at UFC 255. Only five fights since then, with just one win. Ouch.

Meanwhile, Johnson, aka “InnerG,” is on a roll. He’s won five of his last six fights, including a knockout of Joshua Van. Van, by the way, is set to fight Alexandre Pantoja for the 125-pound title at UFC 323.

UFC 324’s main event features Justin Gaethje vs. Paddy Pimblett for the interim lightweight championship. Fireworks expected!

The co-headliner? Bantamweight champ Kayla Harrison defends against the returning Amanda Nunes. What a lineup!

This event will also be the first UFC show to air on Paramount+. A new chapter begins!
