Former WWE Tag Champ Joins BKFC: “I’ll Fight Bare-Knuckle”

Gzim Selmani, formerly known as Rezar in WWE, is transitioning from a successful wrestling and MMA career to debut in the BKFC ring at KnuckleMania 6, confident in his fighting abilities and eager to compete at a high level.

Gzim Selmani’s career has taken an intriguing turn as he heads to the BKFC ring. Starting in MMA as a teenager, he debuted with Bellator at just 19. Quite the prodigy, right?

After honing his skills, Selmani ventured into WWE, where he spent nearly a decade. Released in early 2025, he signed with BKFC, making his debut at KnuckleMania 6 on Feb. 7 in Philadelphia. Exciting times ahead!

Known as Rezar in WWE, part of the Authors of Pain tag team, Selmani had options post-release. Yet, the BKFC world called to him. “After WWE, we left in January [2025], I was thinking if I wanted to continue wrestling or not,” he told MMA Fighting.

He took a break, healed minor injuries, and consulted Shane Watson, a boxing manager. Options were on the table, but BKFC felt right. “It’s something that’s in my blood,” Selmani said. “I think I can do a lot of damage in BKFC.”

Other promotions, like Misfits Boxing, reached out, but Selmani wasn’t interested in the influencer scene. At 31, with a rich WWE history, he seeks serious competition. “I was 19 when I fought in Bellator,” he reminisced. “For now, I want to compete against the best.”

Though his BKFC opponent remains unnamed, Selmani’s past success includes a swift victory over UFC veteran Oli Thompson. Despite a decade away from combat sports, he’s calm, thanks to intense gym work.

“I come from Team Golden Glory,” Selmani explained. Sparring with MMA gloves, he’s used to hard hits. “If I drop guys with 16-ounce gloves, I’ll break their face with no gloves, guaranteed,” he asserted. Confidence? Absolutely.
