Gabriel Miranda Targets Victory over Shane Young at UFC 293, Plans Quick Return for UFC Sao Paulo

MMA fighter Gabriel Miranda plans to win his UFC 293 match against Shane Young decisively, in a way that would allow him to participate in the UFC Sao Paulo event, and while he respects Young as an opponent, he believes Young makes too many mistakes in his ground game that can be exploited.

Gabriel Miranda, a well-known MMA fighter, has big goals for UFC 293. He is keen on winning so convincingly at the event that he gets an opportunity to participate in the UFC Sao Paulo event scheduled for Nov. 4 two months after. His aggressive tactic could bring him back to the ring sooner than most expect. Therefore, this match is not just another bout for him, but a well calculated move to further his career in the sport.

In an episode of the Trocação Franca podcast, Miranda revealed his confidence towards his match against Shane Young. Acknowledging his opponent’s strengths, he shared his observations about Young’s weaknesses demonstrated in his previous UFC matches, particularly during his debut against Alexander Volkanovski. Miranda insinuated that if Young makes the same mistakes in their fight, his defeat would be imminent. Expressing his aspiration to claim his victory impressively he said,“The idea is to demolish this one, bring the victory, and see if I can get a spot in Sao Paulo. I’ll be keeping my weight low in order to be ready. Let’s see how the fight will play out Saturday, right? If it goes the way we’re planning, I believe I’m coming out unscathed, so I’ll be ready whenever they call me.”

Young’s performance has been shaky, having lost three consecutive fights after defeating Rolando Dy and Austin Arnett earlier in his career. This match-up is crucial for Young as well, as he attempts to turn around his recent form. On the other hand, this fight represents Miranda’s chance to notch his first victory in the octagon after losing to Benoit Saint Denis in a previous match. Miranda’s debut was a challenge as he fought on short notice and faced a formidable opponent in Saint Denis. Nonetheless he remains positive and feels that the experience has made him calmer and more prepared for upcoming fights. Recalling his first fight he noted, “I took that fight on two week’s notice, a very tough fight no one was willing to take, and still went forward. That fight has brought me so much experience, especially being my debut. I was able to see everything I’ve always worked so hard to achieve, and this time I’m more calm and relaxed, I’ve already had the pressure of debuting in the UFC. It took me years to get here.”

In the Saint Denis match, Miranda had many odds stacked against him including the difference in weight and his opponent’s greater experience. However, he is resolved to demonstrate his true potential in his fight against Young, saying, “I’m 100 percent ready to show who I am.” Miranda recognizes Shane’s experience and further acknowledges the extra edge Shane may have because he is fighting in his home country. This adds more intensity to the fight, compelling him to give his 100 percent, and bring a victory home for Brazil. Concluding his thoughts, Miranda said, “Shane Young also has more experience in the UFC, he’s already fought Volkanovski. He’s no joke, he’s fighting in his home country and I’m sure he needs this win as well. That adds some extra flavor to this fight. I can’t miss. I have to go there and do everything we’ve prepared, give my 100 percent, show them who I am, and bring this submission win for Brazil.”
