Georgia Commission Overturns Brundage Loss to Abdul-Malik

The Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission overturned Cody Brundage‘s loss to Mansur Abdul-Malik from a technical decision to a majority draw due to an incomplete round being improperly scored after an accidental head clash.

Cody Brundage’s record just got a little cleaner. His previous loss against Mansur Abdul-Malik at UFC Atlanta in June? Gone.

The Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission decided to switch things up. They changed the technical decision to a majority draw, as confirmed to MMA Fighting.

Here’s the scoop from the commission:

“Following an appeal hearing from Cody Brundage, the GAEC has overturned the outcome from the June 14th, 2025, event from a Unanimous Decision loss (29-28, 29-28, 30-27) to a Majority Draw (19-19, 19-19, 18-20).”

Why the change? It’s all about the rules. GAEC Rule 85-3-.16(h) states incomplete rounds can’t be scored. Yet, the third round was scored that night. Oops.

Turns out, an accidental clash of heads ended the fight. Abdul-Malik was initially declared the winner, but replays showed it was the headbutt, not legal strikes, that floored Brundage.

Instead of a no-contest, the fight went to the scorecards. Abdul-Malik won a technical decision. But Brundage wasn’t having it.

“In Georgia’s rules, they will not score unfinished rounds,” Brundage explained. “They scored the third round completely against their bi-laws.”

He argued the foul directly impacted the fight, saying, “To score a 30-second round is just insane to me.”

Looks like the commission agreed. Brundage’s loss? Now a majority draw.
