Guilherme Pat and Steven Asplund both secured victories at UFC Vegas 112, with Pat suggesting a future matchup between them, highlighting Asplund’s relentless fighting style and expressing satisfaction with his own debut performance despite initial nerves.
Guilherme Pat and Steven Asplund walked away victorious at UFC Vegas 112, wrapping up the promotion’s calendar with wins over Allen Frye and Sean Sharaf. The Brazilian fighter believes it makes perfect sense to match them up in 2026. Why not?
Pat, in his debut, secured a decision victory, boosting his record to 6-0 against an unbeaten opponent. Meanwhile, Asplund unleashed 170 significant strikes in under nine minutes, earning a TKO and an extra $50,000 bonus. Not bad, right?
“He’s not very experienced either,” Pat remarked about Asplund. “Asplund’s on the same track as me. I think he’s the closest to my level, so it’d be interesting to fight him next. Let’s see what the promotion thinks.”
Although Pat hasn’t watched Asplund’s full fight, he caught some highlights and liked what he saw. Intrigued, to say the least.
“[He has] a unique pace for a heavyweight,” Pat noted. “He keeps moving forward, making it a war. His style promises a real brawl, no hugging. You better be prepared.”
Pat wanted a finish to mark his first UFC night perfectly, but credits Frye’s chin and his own jitters for the full 15-minute bout.
“I wanted it badly, but Frye kept grabbing me,” Pat said. “He was resilient, taking shots that seemed like the end. But he kept going. Maybe nerves made my punches graze him, which cut him up.”
“I’m satisfied with my performance,” he continued. “Despite the nerves, I held it together. Debuting is tough with so many new experiences. Watching [Jamey-Lyn Horth] finish [Tereza Bleda] fast made my heart race. Anxiety is part of it, but I did what I needed to do. I’m happy, but there’s still a lot to improve.”
