Has the Conor McGregor Trash Talk Era Come To An End?

The UFC 246 Pre Fight Press conference took place yesterday, January 15th at the Pearl Theater in the Palms Casino Resort.

Without a doubt, this press conference was not a spectacle which we have been used to seeing in previous Conor McGregor‘s press conferences. When asked about his approach to his fight-week and some of his changes he was quick to downplay that rumor.

“I haven’t changed. I am who I am. I’m committed, focused, and have a solid opponent in front of me on January 18th. I have grown as a person. Internally I still a young passionate man aspiring to do things never done before.  I’m in a position where I am very excited and eager to perform for the fans”.

“I’m setting out for big goals this year and this is going to be a big year for me and Mcgregor entertainment.”

In previous press conferences when asked about his opponents McGregor would be aggressively taking a shot at his opponents. We saw this in the world tour conferences leading up to this featherweight title fight against Jose Aldo. Most recently in the buildup to his UFC 229 fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov Conor Mcgregor took very personal shots. Many believed he crossed the line mentioning his father and religion in the build-up.

When asked if McGregor would cross the line, McGregor confidently stated,

“I respect Donald. He’s a family man. He goes through divisions like me. It’s hard not to respect Donald. There will be no bad blood but there will be blood in the ring”.

Both men were sharing compliments with each other. McGregor who is one of the best-dressed men in the UFC even took notice of ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone’s python suit.

At one point in the press conference, when Mcgregor was asked about his sexual assault allegation, Cerrone was very quick to come to Conor’s defense.

“We are here to talk about a fight. Nothing outside of this fight. Why do we have to go there”?

The face-off between the two men was also very cordial. Both men embraced in a nice handshake to conclude the press conference leaving many to believe; is this the new Conor McGregor fight fans should be ready for or will we see his trash talk style return in the near future?

UFC 246 will take place on January 18th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
