Ex-UFC champion Holly Holm is returning to boxing with a fight on June 28, signed under Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, and will face Yolanda Vega on the same card as Paul’s match against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Ex-UFC champ Holly Holm is making a comeback to boxing. She’s signed with Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions and has a fight set for June 28.
Holm will be on the same card where Jake Paul faces Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. Exciting stuff, right?
After wrapping up her UFC stint, Holm sought a return to boxing. Remember her epic head-kick knockout of Ronda Rousey in 2015? Legendary.
Despite having fights left on her UFC contract, Holm asked for a release. The UFC agreed, letting her explore new avenues.
She initially signed with the Global Fight League. But, alas, the promotion fizzled out without hosting any events. A bit anticlimactic.
Still, Holm hinted at a boxing return, a sport where she shined. She was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame with a 33-2-3 record. Impressive!
Now, at 43, Holm is stepping back into the boxing ring for the first time since 2013. Quite the comeback story.
Her opponent? Yolanda Vega, a 10-1 fighter. They’ll clash in a 10-round lightweight bout with two-minute rounds. Intense!
Holm expressed her excitement, saying, “I’m thrilled to partner with Most Valuable Promotions and return to boxing. This new chapter is going to be an exciting journey.”
She added, “With boxing titles in three higher weight classes, I’m eager to pursue a fourth in a new division.” Ambitious!
Holm vs. Vega will be featured alongside Paul vs. Chavez, with the whole event broadcast on DAZN pay-per-view. Can’t wait!
