Islam Makhachev Warns Jack Della Maddalena After UFC 315; JDM Responds

Islam Makhachev issued a challenge to new welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena after UFC 315, expressing his intent to become a double champion, while Della Maddalena welcomed the potential fight.

Islam Makhachev wasted no time sending a bold warning to new welterweight champ Jack Della Maddalena after his stunning win over Belal Muhammad at UFC 315. The reigning lightweight king knew the night’s outcome would shape his future. With Della Maddalena now holding the belt, Makhachev’s path to the 170-pound title is clear.

“Time to become a double champion,” Makhachev tweeted after UFC 315. “Let’s go.” Short, sweet, and to the point.

He also sent a direct message to Della Maddalena, who had mentioned him in the cage, eager for revenge for Alexander Volkanovski. Remember, Volkanovski fought and lost to Makhachev twice, once with a brutal head kick knockout.

“You are not Volk,” Makhachev told Della Maddalena. “I will show you a different level. Keep my belt clean.” Ouch.

Della Maddalena, unfazed, welcomed Makhachev to the welterweight division. “Come get it,” he said with a smirk. He acknowledged Islam’s accomplishments, saying he deserves the shot if he steps up, though it’s ultimately the UFC’s call.

With this back-and-forth, the UFC likely won’t have to work hard to set up this matchup later this year. Stay tuned!
