Jake Paul dominated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for a unanimous decision victory, improving to 12-1, and expressed interest in future bouts with notable fighters.
Jake Paul took control and dominated former world champ Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in Anaheim, California, snagging a 10-round unanimous decision. This win bumps his record to 12-1 in boxing.
Paul, visibly larger than the 39-year-old veteran, was always two steps ahead. Chavez Jr. struggled to land anything significant, taking three rounds to connect, but it was never enough. Paul’s jabs and uppercuts kept him at bay, preventing Chavez Jr. from finding his rhythm.
Chavez Jr. found some success in the ninth with a body shot and an uppercut. He needed a knockout in the tenth, and though he landed some solid right hands, Paul held firm. All three judges sided with the younger fighter.
“It was flawless,” Paul remarked post-fight. “I think I only got hit 10 times. Really, he just survived. I thought I did great. Going 10 rounds against a former world champion who’s never been stopped. He’s in there with Canelo [Alvarez], all of these guys, and I embarrassed him like that. Easy work.”
Eager to return, Paul mentioned potential opponents like Gervonta Davis, Anthony Joshua, Gilberto Ramírez, Badou Jack, and Tommy Fury. No favorites, though—he also gave Chavez Jr. credit for lasting all 10 rounds.
“He’s a tough, tough guy,” Paul added, fresh off another win over a former champ after beating legendary heavyweight Mike Tyson. “[Chavez Jr.] has never been stopped. He’s a Mexican warrior. I respect Mexican warriors, I respect Mexico, but I’m also a warrior and I came out on top tonight.”
