The Florida Athletic Commission confirmed medical suspensions from the Miami card in December. Paul tops the list with an indefinite suspension due to his jaw being broken in two places during the sixth round.
This fight marked Paul’s first knockout loss and his second career defeat. He managed to dodge Joshua for a while but slowed down significantly by the fourth and fifth rounds.
Joshua took advantage, scoring knockdowns in the fifth. Paul was left scrambling, desperately diving for legs to avoid more damage.
In the sixth, Joshua cornered Paul and unleashed a barrage of punches. A brutal right hook sent Paul to the canvas for the final time. Though he initially smiled, the referee stopped the fight to prevent further injury.
Post-fight, Paul revealed his jaw required multiple plates for repair. Now, he must wait for healing and medical clearance before returning to the ring.
Meanwhile, Tyron Woodley faced a 30-day suspension after a knockout loss to UFC legend Anderson Silva. At 50, Silva defied age, flooring Woodley with a fierce combo.
Woodley’s record in boxing now stands at 0-3, following two losses to Paul. His transition from MMA to boxing has been rocky.
