Jean Silva Broke Both Hands in UFC Denver Fight

Jean Silva achieved a remarkable victory over Drew Dober at UFC Denver, winning via third-round TKO despite breaking both hands in the first round and relying on elbows and knees to secure the win.

The biggest win of Jean Silva’s career was even more difficult than most thought.

At UFC Denver, Silva faced Drew Dober in one of the very best fights of 2024. He won via third-round TKO after opening a gruesome cut over Dober’s eye. And he did it all with his best weapons compromised.

On Thursday, Silva revealed via social media that he broke both hands in the first round of his fight with Dober. Yet, he still went on to win the bout.

“Imagine being in a match against a tough, top weight opponent in his town, and suddenly realizing you broke both hands in the first round… This happened to Jean Silva. He came back and knocked [him out with] elbows.”

“What’s up guys,” Silva said. “The next image you’ll see is about my hand fractures.” Unfortunately, the fight against Drew Dober was pretty hard. I broke both my hands in the first round.

I told my corner and they told me to keep fighting, using knees and elbows that we have trained before. So, no way we were going to lose that fight and I’m not going to lose to anyone.”

The win was Silva’s third in the UFC and second in as many weeks. “Lord” knocked out Charles Jourdain two weeks prior at UFC 303.

Now it appears Silva is in for a bit of a break as he recovers from his injuries.
