Joel Alvarez has withdrawn from his UFC 315 fight against Benoit Saint Denis due to a hand injury, leaving the status of the bout and potential opponents uncertain.
Joel Alvarez won’t be stepping into the octagon at UFC 315. Yep, you heard it right.
“El Fenomeno” broke the news on Instagram. A hand injury has sidelined him, pulling him out of his lightweight clash with Benoit Saint Denis. This fight was set for the pay-per-view event at Montreal’s Bell Center this Saturday. MagicM first reported Alvarez’s withdrawal. Bummer, huh?
Check out Alvarez’s Instagram post for more details.
He’s looking at a three-week break from training. No word yet on when he’ll be back in action. Fingers crossed it’s soon.
What’s next for Saint Denis? Will they reschedule, or find him a new opponent? Maybe both fighters will face new challengers later on. Who knows?
Alvarez, boasting a 22-3 record, is on fire with a three-fight win streak. All his wins? Knockouts or submissions. Impressive, right?
Saint Denis (13-3-1, 1 NC) is no slouch either. Thirteen finishes, but he’s hit a rough patch with losses to Renato Moicano and Dustin Poirier. Tough break.
UFC 315 isn’t just about Alvarez and Saint Denis, though. The main event features Belal Muhammad defending the welterweight title against Jack Della Maddalena. Meanwhile, Valentina Shevchenko defends her flyweight crown against Manon Fiorot in the co-main event. Exciting stuff!
