Jon Jones Discusses Nate Diaz Brawl on Russian TV Show

Jon Jones commented on a brawl involving Nate Diaz during a reality show in Russia, attributing the incident to Diaz’s edgy demeanor and past feuds, and noting the unusual aggression and lack of martial arts spirit among the participants.

Nate Diaz isn’t someone you want to mess with, says Jon Jones. News broke that Diaz was out of a reality show he was filming with Jones in Russia. Why? An insane brawl erupted between Diaz, his team, and some competitors.

Jake Shields, part of Diaz’s team, explained that things escalated when a fighter tried grabbing Diaz. Jones agrees. He noted that Diaz was already edgy before it all kicked off. Playing around with a Diaz brother? Not smart.

“We had one of our young fighters, Zalik, who wanted to play-fight with Nate,” Jones shared with Red Corner MMA. “Nate was on edge, maybe due to past beef with Russian fighters. It got serious fast, and we had to replace him.”

Diaz has a history with Khabib Nurmagomedov, even allegedly slapping him once. Though Khabib’s been out of MMA for a while, Shields hinted their old feud might’ve fueled the brawl.

Jones thinks that could be true. But he also remarked that this experience was unlike anything in his long MMA career. Way more aggression and hostility than usual.

“I’ve been around the Bushido spirit for a long time,” Jones said. “There are rules in martial arts you don’t cross. Here? Not so much. Some are warriors, others more like street fighters. Insults, weapons—this show is unique. Truly unique.”
