Jon Jones is enjoying life outside the UFC and hasn’t committed to a return fight, leaving Tom Aspinall and fans uncertain about when he might compete again.
Jon Jones isn’t exactly in a hurry to get back in the cage. The current UFC heavyweight champ, who’s been filming a reality show in Thailand, seems to have his hands full outside the octagon. Meanwhile, fans are buzzing about a potential fight with Tom Aspinall.
Jones dropped a cryptic hint, saying the UFC knows his plans, but Dana White keeps assuring everyone that the fight with Aspinall will happen. Yet, on Wednesday, Jones addressed rumors about retirement and didn’t exactly clear things up.
“I don’t know if I wanna call it retired,” he tweeted. “I feel like I’ll always have an ability to pop out and show ’em. I’ve had many breaks throughout my career, my identity outside of fighting is well intact. I’m genuinely enjoying life, I’m growing in different ways.”
Jones last fought in November, defeating Stipe Miocic in his first heavyweight title defense. Since then, he hasn’t fully committed to another fight. Dana White, however, remains optimistic about Jones returning to unify the title with Aspinall.
Aspinall, on the other hand, is getting restless. His last bout was in July 2024 against Curtis Blaydes, and the wait is stretching on. With Jones’s recent comments, Aspinall might have to rethink how long he’s willing to wait for this showdown.
