Kevin Vallejos is set to face Josh Emmett in the main event of UFC Vegas 114, following Vallejos’ rapid rise in the rankings and Emmett’s recent struggles in the octagon.
Kevin Vallejos is gearing up to challenge another top-15 UFC featherweight contender. He’s got his sights set on making a big impact.
The UFC announced Friday that Vallejos will face Josh Emmett in the main event of UFC Vegas 114. Mark your calendars for March 14 at the UFC’s Meta APEX in Las Vegas.
Emmett, once riding high on a five-fight win streak, now finds himself in a slump. He’s lost four of his last five bouts, including a submission loss to Yair Rodriguez at UFC 284 and another to Youssef Zalal at UFC 320.
At 40, Emmett’s only recent victory was a stunning knockout of Bryce Mitchell at UFC 296. But those losses to Ilia Topuria and Lerone Murphy still sting.
Vallejos, on the other hand, is a rising star in the sport. After just three octagon appearances, he cracked the UFC rankings by knocking out Giga Chikadze at UFC Vegas 112.
The 24-year-old has only one loss in 18 bouts, a decision to Jean Silva on Dana White’s Contender Series. Before that, he notched wins against Seung Woo Choi and Danny Silva. Exciting times ahead!
