Judge Issues Restraining Order Keeping B.J. Penn 100 Feet from Mother

B.J. Penn has been served a temporary restraining order by a Hawaii judge after his mother, citing “extreme psychological abuse” and delusional accusations, sought protection following his arrests for alleged family abuse and interference with her property.

B.J. Penn, the UFC legend, has been hit with a temporary restraining order in Hawaii. His mother, Lorraine Shin, sought protection after Penn’s two arrests.

Shin accused Penn of “extreme psychological abuse,” claiming he believes she’s an imposter who “killed his family.” A judge approved the restraining order on Tuesday.

The order, lasting 180 days, requires Penn to appear in court on June 10. He’s forbidden from coming within 100 feet of his mother or her home and workplace.

Penn must also refrain from any form of contact with his mother or her household. Violating the order could mean a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Shin filed the order after Penn’s recent arrests for family abuse. She reported missing belongings and accused Penn of tampering with security measures at her home.

She claims Penn removed security cameras and glued her bedroom door’s deadbolt. Allegations include Penn stealing her mail and physically confronting her.

Penn was arrested twice after allegedly returning to his mother’s home against orders. Shin provided video evidence of his return to the police.

Shin believes Penn suffers from Capgras delusional syndrome, thinking she’s an imposter. She requests a six-month order and medical treatment for Penn.

Penn has made disturbing social media posts claiming his family is dead, replaced by imposters. He also shared a video of his initial arrest.

Despite these issues, Penn remains a celebrated figure in MMA, known for holding titles in two UFC divisions. His last fight was in 2019.
