Kai Lu’s Uppercut Sends Foe into Splits

Kai Lu achieved a sensational knockout victory over Askhat Akimov with an uppercut that left Akimov in a splits position during the lightweight main event of JCK Fight Night 91, marking a comeback for Lu after previous losses.

MMA fans have witnessed countless knockouts with awkward landings, but rarely do they see an opponent fall into the splits. That’s precisely what happened on Saturday.

In the lightweight main event of JCK Fight Night 91 in Fuzhou, China, Kai Lu delivered a devastating uppercut to Askhat Akimov. The impact sent Akimov into an unconscious splits position.

Lu followed up with a (probably unnecessary) additional shot before the referee intervened. The fight was stopped at just 64 seconds into the opening round.

Check out the brutal finish in the video below.

This victory marked a significant comeback for Lu. He had lost a decision two months earlier at JCK’s Bounty Challenge event. Lu’s journey has been tumultuous.

He competed on Road to UFC, aiming for a contract with the world’s biggest fight promotion. After a second-round finish in his first tournament fight, he was knocked out by Jeong Yeong Le in October 2022 in just 42 seconds.

Five months later, Lu got another opportunity but faced defeat again. This time, Kaiwen Li knocked him out in the first round in May 2023.

Yet, Lu remains determined, showcasing resilience despite setbacks.
