Kamaru Usman Dominates Buckley at UFC Atlanta Main Event

Kamaru Usman showcased his wrestling dominance to defeat Joaquin Buckley in a one-sided decision at UFC Atlanta, marking his first victory in nearly four years and reestablishing himself as a top contender in the welterweight division.

Kamaru Usman reminded everyone why he’s one of the all-time greats in the welterweight division with a vintage performance at UFC Atlanta. He dominated Joaquin Buckley, winning a one-sided decision.

Usman’s wrestling and ground control were on full display as he took Buckley down in each round. He opened a cut early and relentlessly hammered Buckley on the canvas.

Though Buckley tried a valiant comeback in the fifth round, Usman was too far ahead. This win marked his first victory in nearly four years.

“It feels good,” Usman said. “I needed to get that monkey off my back. Going up against a young, hungry guy, you’ve got to use experience. That’s what I did tonight.”

He praised Buckley for being tough, acknowledging the hard work it takes to compete at this level. “Thank you to him for bringing everything,” Usman added.

Usman wasted no time closing the distance, securing a quick takedown. He maintained control, peppering Buckley with punches and advancing his position.

A sharp elbow from Usman sliced Buckley open, leaving him stuck on the bottom. Even when Buckley landed a solid hook, Usman absorbed it and continued his assault.

Usman’s relentless pressure didn’t let up, as he hammered away with punches and elbows until the round ended. Buckley, knowing he was down, swung wildly but couldn’t turn the tide.

Usman’s wrestling silenced critics who doubted his knees. “Everybody wants to talk shit. Well, shut the f*ck up, I can still do what I do,” he declared.

In the final minutes, Buckley finally stuffed a takedown, bringing the crowd to its feet. Despite winning the round, he couldn’t do enough damage to Usman.

“I’m honored to be in the octagon with one of the GOATs,” Buckley said after the fight. “We put on an amazing fight. This ain’t the end; we’re just getting started.”

Usman’s win catapults him back into the title picture at 170 pounds, sending a message to the division. “I have been and always will be the f*cking boogeyman,” he warned.

This performance showed Usman is ready for anyone the UFC throws his way. His confidence remains unshaken as he eyes future challenges.
