Kayla Harrison’s Coach on Dana White’s Amanda Nunes Fight Claim

UFC CEO Dana White and coach Steve Mocco praise the upcoming UFC 324 women’s bantamweight title fight between Kayla Harrison and Amanda Nunes as potentially the greatest women’s fight ever, highlighting Harrison’s exceptional preparation and motivation.

UFC CEO Dana White recently showered praise on the stakes of the upcoming UFC 324 women’s bantamweight title fight. He called it the greatest women’s fight of all time. And he’s not alone in thinking that.

Kayla Harrison is set to defend her title against Amanda Nunes. This clash will be the co-main event of the UFC’s first Paramount era event on Jan. 24 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Steve Mocco, the wrestling coach at American Top Team, where Harrison trains, chimed in on White’s remarks. He wholeheartedly agrees with White’s assessment of the matchup.

“I think it’s a big fight,” Mocco told MMA Fighting. “Yeah, I agree with him.”

Interestingly, Mocco is gearing up for his own competition. He’ll face Egypt’s Mostafa Elders in a heavyweight freestyle wrestling match at RAF 5 in Sunrise, Fla.

Mocco knows Nunes well, a former ATT squad member. Nunes returns after retiring as the 135-pound champ following a dominant decision over Irene Aldana at UFC 289 in June 2023.

As for Harrison, Mocco describes her as one of the most motivated fighters he’s encountered. Her attention to detail is unmatched.

“She’s very good about her preparation,” Mocco explained. “The way she handles her day-to-day is refreshing for me as a coach.”

“So she’s doing a good job with it, and we’re looking forward to it.”
