Matthew Semelsberger Wins BKFC Tryouts After UFC Exit Admission

Matthew Semelsberger, after being released from the UFC due to four consecutive losses, won a spot on the KnuckleMania VI card at the BKFC tryouts and will debut on February 7 in Philadelphia.

Matthew Semelsberger has found a new path. After clinching victory at the BKFC tryouts, he’s set to make his mark at KnuckleMania VI in Philadelphia on Feb. 7.

The tryouts, held at the iconic 2300 Arena, saw 60 fighters battling for a coveted spot. In the end, Semelsberger and local talent Christian Fayne emerged victorious, setting the stage for their February showdown.

This move to BKFC marks Semelsberger’s first major step since his UFC release. After enduring four consecutive losses, he took to social media to share the news, acknowledging that perhaps his time in the UFC had run its course.

“Officially released from the UFC,” he wrote on Instagram. “I don’t deserve to be there with the best, and I’ve shown that these last few fights.” Reflecting on life’s ups and downs, he spoke of metaphorical deaths and rebirths, emphasizing growth and transformation.

Letting go hasn’t been easy for him, but he believes it’s all leading to something greater. “Everything that’s happening is setting me up for greatness,” he continued. “I’ll be right back, gonna go die and be reborn from the ashes right quick.”

At his peak, Semelsberger was a thrilling presence in the UFC, boasting a 4-2 record with notable victories over Jake Matthews and Jason Witt. Yet, his journey there ended with four straight losses, including tough knockouts by Charles Radtke and Uros Medic.

Now, at 32, Semelsberger seeks a fresh start with BKFC. His debut is eagerly anticipated on Feb. 7 at KnuckleMania VI.
